Donald Trump is about as far from family values as it gets. Check out this Lincoln Project video for details:
The mayor of Portland, Oregon, said it, Trump’s “personal Army” to describe some federal paramilitary force that descended uninvited on Portland, beating and gassing peaceful protesters, graffiti artists, journalists and observers alike, stuffing some into unmarked vans and carting them away to undisclosed locations without probable cause, alleges the Oregon Department of Justice and the ACLU.
Who are these paramilitary troops, Trump’s “Brownshirts”? Are they even Americans? They can’t vote in US elections because they don’t have ID. That’s right, no ID. See this pleasant and professional-looking Oregon state trooper?
I cannot imagine this fine fellow ever shooting someone in the head with a rubber bullet, but if he did, he could be held accountable because he’s wearing a nametag, like every other uniformed law enforcement officer.
These from Trump’s army, not so much.
And indeed, one of these guys, masked and lacking ID, did shoot a peaceful protester in the head with a rubber bullet, fracturing his skull. The State of Oregon could prosecute, except that there’s no way to identify who did it.
As the Lincoln Project says: “This is how it starts.”
As pretty much everyone has said, the Bible was a prop. I don’t know any religious leader that has approved of it, so why do it? If all he wanted to do was show off somebody’s Bible, he didn’t have to flash bang protesters and gas them for his photo op outside a church across from the White House.
I can only make an informed guess why he did this, but I think Trump was harkening back to Hitler, either intentionally or accidentally, and the message is: “The strong rule by divine right.”
An associate of Hitler, Albert Speer, wrote:
I can only explain Hitler’s rigid attitude on the grounds that he made himself believe in his ultimate victory. In a sense he was worshiping himself. He was forever holding up to himself a mirror in which he saw not only himself but the confirmation of his mission by divine Providence. His religion was based on the “lucky break” which must necessarily come his way; he method was to reinforce himself by autosuggestion. The more events drove him into a corner, the more obstinately he opposed to them his certainty about the intentions of Fate. Naturally, he also soberly understood the military facts. But he transmuted them by his own faith and regarded even defeat as a secret guarantee, offered by Providence, of the coming victory. Sometimes he could realize the hopelessness of a situation, but he could not be shaken in his expectation that at the last moment Fate would suddenly turn the tide in his favor. If there was any fundamental insanity in Hitler, it was this unshakable belief in his lucky star. He was by nature a religious man, but his capacity for belief had been perverted into belief in himselfAlbert Speer, Inside the Third Reich : memoirs
And Hitler himself wrote:
Nature…puts living creatures on this globe and watches the free play of forces. She then confers the master’s right on her favorite child, the strongest in courage and industry…The stronger must dominate and not blend with the weaker, thus sacrificing his own greatness. Only the born weakling can view this as cruel.Mein Kampf
This photo-op occurred after Trump told state governors that they must dominate, or look like jerks. What Donald Trump did was obscene and against the laws of God and man.
Remember back in 2011 when **ssy grabbing Donald Trump was fanning the birth certificate conspiracy theories about Barack Obama? He didn’t have the integrity to out and out claim Obama was foreign born, but rather used the coward’s tactic of innuendo. But at that time Trump sort of promised something in exchange for Obama’s birth certificate.
“Maybe I’m going to do the tax returns when Obama does his birth certificate … I’d love to give my tax returns. I may tie my tax returns into Obama’s birth certificate.”Interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos April 17, 2011.
Obama released his birth certificate ten days later. Where’s the Tax Returns?
This web site is dedicated to memory. Donald Trump does so many outrageous things that each new thing overshadows what came before, and over time people become desensitized. The title of the site commemorates the recorded comments by Donald Trump from the Access Hollywood tape. The item perhaps didn’t get as much publicity as it deserved because with an hour of its publication, the Russians dumped thousands of Democratic campaign emails on WikiLeaks.
Here’s what the future president said:
You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. … Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.New York Times
Trump excuses himself by calling this “locker room talk” but the objectivization of women is wrong, whether or not Trump actually did the things he bragged about.
